Visa-free travel to China!

Now that China temporarily exempts citizens of France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain and Malaysia from needing visas to visit the country, what’s next?

It’s only for one year (01/12/2023 until 30/11/2024) and it’s for trips up to 15 days, but what a huge move!

Sometimes, we can have good surprises with what China comes up with. I never thought this would be possible in the near future. I could not travel to China since Covid and did not want to bother to apply for a visa, but now this changes everything.

I wish this came up earlier. I was invited to an event in Beijing by the French ambassador to China on Monday 27/11/2023 and did not go because I did not have any visa. Now I plan to go to Shanghai and Beijing as early as 01/12/2023, the very first day this new rule comes into effect. Let’s see how it goes!

I am currently looking to make meaningful business connections in Shanghai and Beijing. Please let me know if you have any contacts I should meet. Many of my friends told me the situation in China has changed… many expats have left… and many remaining expats have changed their lifestyle and hang out less often. Let’s see!
