Carnival Festival (Bangkok)

February 16, 2023 @ 7:30 pm - 10:30 pm

Alsatians and friends of Alsace in Thailand, come and celebrate Carnival with the Amicale des Thaïlsaciens. We would like to remind you that our events are open to all, whatever their origin, the only condition being that they love Alsace and/or want to discover it…

Carnival or “Fàstnàcht” in Alsatian language, is a tradition well anchored in the whole Rhine valley from the south of Germany to Switzerland. There are many historical and cultural interpretations of this period of exhaltation, from symbolically chasing away the evil spirits of winter to preparing for the 40 days of fasting that precede the Easter holidays.

There are multiple references to the origin of Carnival celebrations, combining Christian and/or pagan beliefs, but they all seem to refer to the symbolism of a new annual cycle.
Put on your masks and come share a good meal in an atmosphere that is above all “friendly”.

See you soon…
